After being successfully test flown our Nanchangs are packed into 40ft open top containers for shipment to Australia. Highly experienced PLAAF personnel carry out this work.
Proper packing is essential if exported aircraft are to arrive here with no damage.

SOURCING
OUR AIRCRAFT Once our agent has located suitable airframes that meet our specifications they are purchased and forwarded to a PLAAF Aviation Academy that specialises in the overhaul and maintenance of the aircraft. There the airframes go through an overhaul regime that results in the airframe being almost completely disassembled and built back up again with all major components being inspected in the process. Any item that does not meet specification is either repaired or replaced. Our
specification
as part of the overhaul work is for the aircraft to be fitted with a zero time overhauled engine with 600 Hrs TBO and a prop with minimum 800 Hrs TBO, therefore our aircraft have main components with long operational lives.
Finally the aircraft is repainted (a process that has no cosmetic
specification) and disassembled for packing and shipping to Australia.
Packing is two aircraft into a 40 ft open top container so we purchase
aircraft in pairs to obtain an economy of scale for shipping costs.

ON
ARRIVAL IN AUSTRALIA • Manufacture and fit seat cushions to the front and rear cockpits (no seats in the aircraft as the Chinese pilots sit on their parachutes) • If necessary, either replace or re-web the original seat belts and harnesses • Remove original valve driven VHF radio and intercom (but leave the ADF in situ as it has proven to work very well) • Install a NEW set of avionics consiting of a VHF radio, trandsponder with mode C and intercom • Replace front cockpit altimeter with one in feet and recalibrate ASI into knots scale (originals in metres and Km) • Reweigh the aircraft and carry out any weight & balance adjustments required due to the reconfiguration of the avionics etc. in addition to the myriad of minor items required to meet local certification standards OPTIONAL FITMENTS If required, we can offer several options that can be fitted to our aircraft at additional cost: Baggage compartment – this consists of the conversion of the redundant avionics bay behind the rear cockpit seat into a compartment that will hold overnight baggage for two as well as cross-country oil and external air start kit etc. A must if you are going to travel Central Drain Kit – this consists of the connection of the three inlet manifold drains to a central drain valve that avoids the necessity of opening the cowlings to drain the manifolds. Fitted to some aircraft as standard equipment, but if not, highly recommended Additional Avionics such as GPS, ELT and alternative main avionics are available if required Stainless Steel Exhausts are available either as fitted with an aircraft before delivery or after the standard steel set eventually expires On completion of this work and the issue of Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) by the CASA delegate we test fly the aircraft and make any final adjustments required before delivery to our customer |
